Lynn Hersey • Head Coach


Lynn Hersey enters her 16th season as head coach of the Smith College basketball team in 2022. The program's all-time leader in wins, Hersey has developed the Pioneers into one of New England's elite programs during her tenure as Smith finished the 2021-22 season ranked No. 9 nationally in the WBCA Coaches' Poll. Hersey's teams have qualified for the postseason 11 times with her at the helm.

Jen MacAulay • Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator


MacAulay enters her third season as the assistant basketball coach at Smith College in 2018.


In 2018, Smith finished with a 20-6 overall record and earned a share of the NEWMAC regular season championship. Smith would run a 23 game home win streak until falling in the NEWMAC semifinal game. Junior post, Kennedy Guest-Pritchett was named NEWMAC player of the year while junior point guard, Lauren Bondi earned first team honors.


In 2017, the Smith coaching staff directed the Pioneers to an 18-9 overall record and an 8-1 record in non-conference play. Capturing the 5th seed, Smith knocked off 4th seed MIT in NEWMAC quarterfinal action to reach the NEWMAC semifinal round.


MacAulay spent the last six seasons as the assistant women's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In her time with the Minutewomen, she assisted in developing, organizing and implementing practice plans, scouted opponents and developed game plans, worked as a liaison between the team and Compliance office and Academic services and created and maintained the team's social media outlets.


Prior to her time at UMass, MacAulay was an assistant coach at her alma mater, Vermont, from 2008 - 2010 after three years at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, and two seasons as a graduate assistant on the women's basketball staff at the University of New Hampshire.

Kate Kerrigan • Graduate Assistant Coach


Kate Kerrigan will enter her first season working with the Smith College basketball staff as a graduate assistant coach during the 2018-19 season. Kerrigan comes to Smith College from Bowdoin College, where she graduated last May with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Psychology. Kerrigan is working to obtain her Master's degree in Exercise and Sport Studies.


Kerrigan, hailing from Wellesley Hills, Mass., was named the 2018 DIII Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) National Player of the Year after leading her team to the 2018 National Championship game in her senior season. Throughout her career, Kerrigan was a three-time NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, three-time All-NESCAC honoree, and an Academic All-Conference selection from 2016 - 2018. In her senior season, Kerrigan was recognized as the NESCAC Player of the Year, the NEWBA Player of the Year and the D3hoops.com Northeast Region Player of the Year, while also being the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year nominee for Basketball.


Kerrigan is the only player in Bowdoin women's basketball history to total more than 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals in a career.

Katherine Puda • Graduate Assistant Coach


Kat Puda will enter her second season with the Smith College basketball staff as a graduate assistant coach during the 2022-2023 season. She also serves as the Marketing Director for Mentoring Through Athletics, a nonprofit organization committed to providing youth student-athletes from low-income areas with access to sports, academic tutoring, and food/school supply drives for their families and communities. Puda comes from Brandeis University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health: Science, Society, and Policy & Psychology with honors. Puda is currently working to obtain her Master's Degree in Exercise and Sport Studies.


Puda, who is originally from Northbridge, MA, played on the women's basketball team at Brandeis University for 4 years, serving as a team captain her senior year. She was named the 2021 Morry Stein Special Recognition Award recipient acknowledging one student-athlete who, through their unsolicited efforts, made a significant contribution to the sports programs at Brandeis. She was selected as one of three NCAA Division III student-athletes to be part of the WBCA "So You Want to be a Coach" program in 2021. Puda was also named the Smith College Athletics Graduate Assistant Coach of the Year following the 2021-2022 season.
